Vision:
To develop a Web 2.0 application for the Winnipeg 311 system that will allow a user to issue “tickets” from the convenience of their web browser. The system will use a graphical map to aid in the process of identifying and locating municipal issues. The system will also include an administrative application back-end.
Project Opportunities:
The Broken ‘Peg will be an excellent addition to the current Winnipeg 311 service. The system will allow the efficient submission and location of various non-emergency problems observed by the public. The data obtained will aid in quickly assigning priority levels to ensure urgent problems are handled promptly. Information regarding outstanding and completed projects will be displayed on the homepage to encourage government transparency and increase public confidence.
Phases:
The Broken ‘Peg is designed to be deliverable in several phases. Each phase will add enhanced functionality by adding new elements and modifying existing content. Delivering the project in this fashion will allow the production of several working releases. These releases can help identify potential issues in the early stages of development and allow the client to easily monitor progress.
